Novartis Animal Health encourages you to take time to read this package insert which describes the once-a-month use of Program (lufenuron) Tablets for flea prevention and control. Indications Program Tablets are indicated for use in the control of flea infestations on dogs and in their habitat. Program works by interrupting the flea life cycle, thereby preventing the build-up of flea infestations on dogs and in their surroundings. Program is indicated for use in dogs six weeks of age and older. Treatment should be initiated at least one month before the onset of the flea season and continued throughout the entire flea season to prevent the build up of a flea infestation. Program is also indicated for control of active mid-season flea infestations. However, in this situation, flea adulticides should be used concurrently at labelled rates for the first 6-8 weeks. This provides time for Program to impact flea population dynamics by interrupting the life cycle. Dosage Program Tablets are to be administered orally, once a month, to dogs six weeks of age and older, at the recommended minimum dosage rate of 10 mg lufenuron per kilo of body weight. Indicaciones: Tratamiento de infecciones mixtas por cestodos y nematodos para perros adultos de hasta 10 kg.   Cestodos: Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp ., Echinococcus  spp ., Mesocestoides spp .   Nematodos: Ancylostoma caninum, Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Trichuris vulpis, Crenosoma vulpis  (redución del nivel de infección), Angiostrongylus vasorum  (reducción del nivel de infección).   No usar en caso de hipersensibilidad a las sustancias activas o a alguno de los excipientes.    Efectos secundarios: En muy raras ocasiones, se han observado signos sistémicos, neurológicos o gastrointestinales en perros después de la administración del medicamento veterinario.   Vía de administración Oral.   Posología Dosis mínima recomendada: 0,5 mg de milbemicina oxima y 5 mg de prazicuantel por kg en dosis única.   El medicamento debe administrarse con o después de algo de comida.   Dependiendo del perro la dosis práctica es la siguiente:    Milbemax ®  Comprimidos masticables para perros: Peso Nº de comprimidos 5-25 kg 1 comprimido >25-50 kg 2 comprimido >50-75 kg 3 comprimido.   En los casos en que se esté realizando una prevención de dirofilariosis y al mismo tiempo se necesite un tratamiento contra cestodos, Milbemax ®  puede reemplazar al medicamento monovalente en la prevención de la filariosis.    Para las infecciones de  Angiostrongylus vasorum , debe administrarse milbemicina oxima cuatro veces a intervalos semanales.
